The aim of the Mandelbrot Competition since its inception has been to provide a challenging, engaging mathematical experience which is both competitive and educational. The questions in The Mandelbrot Competition cover a variety of non-calculus topics such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and probability, plus a few other topics like number theory or classical inequalities that may be less familiar. This book covers the first five years of the contest, namely 1990-1995. Extensive solutions are provided for all individual and team problems to demonstrate mathematical techniques and to serve as examples of proof-writing style.
